Never been able to fix this with any of the mods that claim to fix Lydia specifically. Since I started this game a couple of years ago, Lydias male animation has gotten on my nerves more and more.

I got a message one day when I was out adventuring that she'd gotten tired of waiting and left, probably to go back to Dragonsreach. She was staying there too, as I remember. Did you have her as a follower first and then housecarl? I had her as a follower when I became a Thane of Whiterun and I was living in the Bannered Mare and storing my loot on the floor there (so there wouldn't be ownership problems from using containers).
